Global Mind Screen Group Pty Ltd ("GMS") pioneered online multi-disorder behavioral health assessment in 2003 and has remained the leader in this area ever since. Our assessment tool, the MIND SCREEN, was developed in response to the World Health Organisation's "The World Health Report 2001 - Mental Health: New Understanding, New Hope" which is considered a landmark publication for its attempt to raise the public and professional awareness of the real burden of mental disorders and their costs in human, social and economic terms globally. The Report states that the management and treatment of behavioral health in primary care is a fundamental step which enables the largest number of people to get easier and faster access to services. Seven years later the WHO's second report "Integrating Mental Health into Primary Care - A Global Perspective (2008) was fully dedicated to the first recommendation in the 2001 report. Unfortunately, primary care practitioners globally are paid far less for their time spent treating behavioral health than they are for treating physical health. The Mind Screen was developed to help practitioners assess, diagnose and treat their patients more efficiently. The other driver for developing the Mind Screen was that in 1998-1999 a national audit of general practices was conducted throughout Australia involving 46,515 ambulatory care patients attending 386 Family Physicians. Its objectives included measuring prevalence of common behavioral health disorders and prevalence of recognition of mental disorders by Family Physicians. According to the findings these Family Physicians did not recognize mental disorders that were present in 56% (11,922 out of 21,210) of patients - a rate which is similar in other countries.. The Mind Screen was developed to improve the unacceptably low rate of recognition of behavioral health disorders globally. Today, GMS is delivering significantly improved behavioral health outcomes in many countries. Our Vision is to improve behavioral health globally. Our Mission is to make the Mind Screen available globally by 2018. |
